A qui s'adresse le blanchiment dentaire ?
Le blanchiment dentaire s'adresse aux adultes.
Avant d'y avoir recours, un examen clinique est nécessaire.
En effet, il ne peut être appliqué un produit d'éclaircissement dentaire dans une bouche présentant des lésions (caries non traitées, déchaussement, inflammation des gencives etc....).
Quelles sont les produits efficaces ?
Il existe aujourd'hui une offre pléthorique sur le marché : dentifrices, "strips" blanchissants, cosmétiques couvrants et, plus récemment " bars à sourire".
Il faut cependant garder à l'esprit que seuls les produits ayant une concentration suffisante en peroxyde d'hydrogène pourront produire un éclaircissement satisfaisant et que l'utilisation et la prescription de ces produits sont réservées aux chirurgiens dentistes.
Après un blanchiment professionnel, il est possible gagner un grand nombre de teintes et le résultat peut être spectaculaire. Un éclaircissement réussi doit avant tout rester naturel, l'effet blanc "sanitaire" ne doit pas être un but à atteindre !
Il faut savoir également que le résultat a tendance à s'altérer avec le temps et la consommation de certains produits (café, tabac, thé...).
Le blanchiment abîme-t-il les dents ?
Dans la plupart des cas et lorsque le blanchiment est réalisé correctement, on note très peu d'effets néfastes lesquels, lorsqu'ils surviennent, sont transitoires telle une irritation des gencives ou une hypersensibilité des dents contre laquelle un vernis fluoré peut être efficace. Les produits d'éclaircissement n'étant cependant pas totalement anodins, il est préférable de les utiliser sans excès.
Quelles sont les différentes méthodes de blanchiment dentaire ?
Il existe deux méthodes de blanchiment : la méthode dite « ambulatoire » et la méthode au cabinet..
- La méthode ambulatoire (réalisée à la maison) consiste à porter une gouttière thermoformée pendant 12 à 15 nuits chargée d'un produit de blanchiment à base de peroxyde d'hydrogène (10%).
- La méthode au fauteuil en une heure par votre dentiste, consiste en l'application d'un gel de peroxyde d'hydrogène plus concentré dont l'action est potentialisé par un activateur. Au préalable, une protection minutieuse des muqueuses (gencives, langue, palais) est mise en place.Ce traitement peut être accompagné du port d'une gouttière pendant les 4 nuits suivantes pour un résultat optimal. Ce traitement n'est plus recommandé car les résultats durent moins longtemps que la technique ambulatoire. Nous ne la pratiquons plus du tout.
Quel est le coût ?
Le tarif se situe entre 450 euros et 750 euros selon le produit et la méthode utilisé.

- Souvent, après la séance de détartrage polissage, l'élimination de toutes les taches et colorations suffit à redonner un éclat suffisant à vos dents.
- Après un blanchiment, une sensibilité passagère des dents peut parfois apparaître et dure environ 48 heures. Un dentifrice fluoré est conseillé afin d'atténuer cet effet secondaire.
- Pendant les quelques semaines qui suivent le blanchiment, les boissons colorantes (thé, café, vin rouge...) sont déconseillées car le risque de coloration est plus important pendant cette période.
